Teammachine R

Algupära
The Teammachine R is BMC's dedicated aero road race platform, introduced in 2024 as the spiritual successor to the Timemachine Road. Developed in a unique collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies — the same division that engineers Formula 1 car aerodynamics for Red Bull Racing — the R places aerodynamics above all else while maintaining race-worthy weight. BMC describes it as "Formula 1 technology coupled with Swiss cycling precision." It superseded the previous aero road lineage with a completely new architecture incorporating the Halo Fork, Mariana Bottom Bracket (the deepest ever designed for a road bike), and integrated Aerocore bottle cage system.

Tehnilised andmed
- Raam
- Full carbon, ACE+ (Accelerated Composites Evolution Technology +) — co-developed aerodynamic layup with Red Bull Advanced Technologies. Frame weight 910 g (size 54). Deeper horizontal shapes at head tube, bottom bracket, and seatstay junction.
- Kahvel
- BMC Halo Fork — ultrawide parallel fork legs to redirect turbulent air from the front wheel. Full carbon, significantly stiffer than conventional forks. Integrated cable routing.
- Jõuülekanne
- Top build: SRAM Red AXS 2x12 with 48/35T crankset, 10-30T cassette, Quarq DZero power meter. Builds descend to SRAM Rival AXS on entry tier.
- Pidurid
- SRAM Red AXS HRD hydraulic disc brakes, flat-mount, 160/160 mm rotors.
- Rattad
- Top build: DT Swiss ARC 1100 Dicut 62 mm carbon wheelset with DT Swiss 180 EXP ceramic bearings. Mid builds: DT Swiss ARC 1100 at lower depths.
- Rehvid
- Pirelli P Zero Race TLR SL 700x26c stock. Frame clearance not published but designed for road racing widths.
- Vedrustus
- Rigid (aero road race bike, no suspension). Vertical compliance via D-shaped carbon seatpost with 10 mm setback.
- Rooliplokk
- BMC ICS Carbon Aero integrated cockpit (handlebar + stem as one unit). 110 mm stem length, 380 mm handlebar width (36 cm at hoods, 12.5° flare). 72.5 mm reach, 135 mm drop. Fully internal cable routing.
- Sadul
- Fizik Argo Vento R1 with carbon rails on flagship build. BMC D-shaped carbon seatpost, 10 mm setback.
- Geomeetria
- Size 56: head angle 72.3°, seat angle 73.5°, reach 393 mm, stack 563 mm, chainstay 410 mm, BB drop 69 mm, wheelbase 999 mm. Identical head angle to Teammachine SLR. STA increases to 74° for sizes 47-51 cm, drops to 73° for 58-61 cm.
- Kaal
- Frame 910 g (size 54). Complete bike with ARC 1100/62 mm wheels: 7.16 kg (size 56, no pedals). Flagship R 01 ONE build ~7.0 kg. Slightly heavier than Teammachine SLR due to deeper tube profiles.

Verdikt
+Tugevused
- Best-in-class aerodynamics matched only by the Canyon Aeroad CFR in Gran Fondo's 2025 comparison — outstanding aerodynamic efficiency from the Halo Fork, Mariana BB, and ICS aero cockpit.
- Razor-sharp, highly precise handling; the 72.3° head angle and 410 mm chainstay give sprint responsiveness and excellent high-speed stability.
- Collaborative development with Red Bull Advanced Technologies brings F1-grade aerodynamic simulation — a genuine differentiator vs all-manufacturer competitors.
- Stiff front end and very direct power transfer make it a genuine sprint and criterium weapon at the World Tour level.
−Nõrkused
- Heavier than the Teammachine SLR (~7.16 kg vs ~6.8 kg tested) — the aero tube depth costs weight, making it less optimal for steep mountain stages.
- Proprietary ICS Carbon Aero cockpit restricts bar width/stem length options and complicates bike fitting.
- Uncompromising race geometry (low stack, aggressive reach) leaves no room for casual recreational use.
- Very high entry price — CHF 8,499 (THREE) to CHF 12,999 (ONE) with no lower-priced Advanced Carbon alternative as offered on the SLR.
