Algupära

Nime saanud karmi Pariis-Roubaixi munakivisillutise klassiku järgi, oli Roubaix esimene, kes tõi turule vastupidavusele orienteeritud maanteeratta kategooria. 2017. aastal kasutusele võetud vedruga Future Shock 3.0 muutis esiosa mugavust revolutsiooniliselt, võimaldades sõitjal endal, mitte rattal, põrutusi neelata. Põlvkond 8 (2023–praeguseni): Roubaix SL8 tuli turule: Future Shock 3.0, 40 mm rehvivaba ruum, kergem raam.

  • Class-leading bump compliance — Future Shock 3.0 + Pavé seatpost cut impacts at bars and saddle by a claimed ~53% vs nearest rival
  • SL8 is far lighter (~950 g frame, ~7.3 kg S-Works) and more aero than previous generations, no longer a comfort-only compromise
  • Big 40mm tire clearance plus 3 bottle/top-tube/fender mounts make it genuinely versatile across endurance, light gravel and bikepacking
  • Tunable Future Shock (3 springs + up to 5 preload spacers) lets the front end be dialed to rider weight and taste
  • Proven racing pedigree — Paris-Roubaix winner, endurance-bike-of-the-year contender at multiple outlets
Nõrkused
  • Future Shock is not optional — riders who dislike the sprung front end or its rubber-boot look cannot remove it
  • Future Shock cartridge must be replaced (not simply rebuilt) when worn, an expensive recurring maintenance cost
  • Poor value at lower trims — mediocre stock wheels and an alloy handlebar even on pricier builds where rivals fit carbon
  • On smooth tarmac the plush front can feel unbalanced against the stiffer rear, and entry 105 builds push ~10 kg
  • Despite 40mm clearance it is not a true gravel bike — on rougher gravel the 32mm Mondo tires and road geometry run out of grip
