Algupära

2002. aastal tutvustas Specialized Epicu kui revolutsioonilist XC täisvedrustusega jalgratast patenteeritud Brain šokiga — inertsi-klapi vedrustustehnoloogiaga, mis automaatselt eristas sõitja sisendit ja raja lööke. See oli esimene tootmises olev vedrustussüsteem, mis tõhusalt kõrvaldas pedaalimise põhjustatud põrkumise ilma sõitja sekkumiseta.

Epic 8 EVO Comp at ~€4,100 is the most affordable entry into the current Epic platform — slacker geometry makes it more versatile than the pure XC standard model

All 2026 Epics use electronic shifting — factor in battery management and charger costs when budgeting

If buying a used Brain-equipped Epic (pre-2024), be aware that Specialized no longer services older Brain shock internals. Verify Brain shock functionality before purchase.

Headset creaking is a known issue on Epic 8 — check headset condition on used models. Phil Wood grease on bearing seats is a common fix.

Epic standard vs EVO: standard has 120mm fork with steeper geo for pure XC racing; EVO has 130mm FOX fork with slacker geo and flip chip for more versatile riding. Choose based on your terrain.
