Ultimate AL
Tehnilised andmed
- Raam
- 6000-series triple-butted aluminium, hydroformed tubes; claimed frame weight ~1,170 g (the lighter SLX frameset shed ~60 g over the prior generation)
- Kahvel
- Full-carbon Canyon 'One One Four SLX' fork, claimed ~295 g, carbon steerer
- Jõuülekanne
- 2x10/2x11 depending on trim and year: from Shimano Tiagra up to Ultegra/Ultegra Di2; top builds shipped SRAM Force 22 (11-speed, 53/39 crank, 11-25 cassette) or Shimano Ultegra
- Pidurid
- Rim brakes on most trims (dual-pivot calipers, Shimano 105/Ultegra level); final disc-equipped AL SLX trims used flat-mount hydraulic discs with 160 mm rotors
- Rattad
- 700c; spec varied by trim — Mavic Ksyrium Elite S on the AL SLX, lower trims on Mavic Aksium / Fulcrum Racing alloy clinchers
- Rehvid
- Mavic Yksion Pro 700x23c clinchers (period race spec; later trims moved to 25c)
- Vedrustus
- Rigid (road race bike, no suspension)
- Rooliplokk
- Ritchey WCS alloy cockpit (shallow-drop, swept-back bar + stem) on the AL SLX; lower trims on Canyon-branded alloy bar/stem
- Sadul
- Fizik saddle (e.g. Antares on premium trims); Canyon S15 VCLS carbon-leaf flex seatpost for vibration damping on the SLX
- Geomeetria
- Race road geometry: ~73.25° head angle, 73.5° seat angle (consistent across sizes); head angle slackens on the smallest frames. 6 sizes XS-2XL (rider 164-203 cm). Stack 495-619 mm, reach 363-479 mm. Aggressive, low, responsive position
- Kaal
- ~7.6 kg complete (AL SLX, rim-brake race trim); disc-equipped builds ~7.8-8.0 kg
Verdikt
- Outstanding value — race-ready spec (Force 22 / Ultegra, carbon fork, quality wheels) at alloy-bike money thanks to Canyon's direct-to-consumer model
- Light and stiff for an aluminium frame (~1,170 g frame, ~7.6 kg complete) — reviewers rated it competitive with carbon at the same price
- Sharp, lively, intoxicatingly responsive race handling that snaps to accelerations and attacks
- VCLS flex seatpost adds genuine rear-end comfort without softening the frame, taking the edge off long rides
- Proven, serviceable platform with widely available standard parts — easy to live with on the used market
- Narrow 23c stock tyres are puncture-prone and limit comfort/grip versus modern 28-32c road setups
- Tall stock gearing (53/39 x 11-25) punishes weaker climbers on steep terrain
- Aggressive, low race position is unforgiving for less flexible or endurance-minded riders — not an all-day comfort bike
- Aluminium ride is direct and a touch harsh over rough surfaces compared with carbon, despite the flex post
- Discontinued — no new stock, no full warranty, limited spares, and direct-to-consumer sizing risk on the used market
