Algupära

BMC Kaius toodi turule 2023. aastal kui BMC lipulaev kruusarattasõiduks, mis on loodud ühendama maanteekiirust ja maastikusõiduvõimekust. Sellel on ainulaadne 'Airfoil' torukuju, mis on pärit BMC maanteeratastelt, integreeritud kaablite paigutus ja eristuv 'Micro Travel' vedrustussüsteem tagumises kolmnurgas, mis pakub 10 mm järeleandlikkust. Kaius on loodud jõudluskesksetele kruusaratturitele, kes otsivad kiiret, aerodünaamilist ja võimekat masinat võistlemiseks ja nõudlikul kruusamaastikul sõitmiseks. See on endiselt tootmises ja esindab BMC pühendumust arenevale kruusaturule.

  • Exceptionally light for a gravel bike — sub-1 kg frame (910 g) and full builds around 7.1-7.7 kg, on par with race road bikes.
  • Blistering speed on smooth gravel, hardpack and tarmac; aero tube shapes and stiff BB make it 'without peer' when conditions suit it.
  • Superb SRAM XPLR AXS shifting and fluid-damper chain management keep the drivetrain quiet and taut over rough ground.
  • Clean, fully integrated ICS Aero cockpit and cable routing with genuine aerodynamic benefit.
  • Excellent component spec on flagship builds (Zipp 303 Firecrest wheels, Fizik Vento Argo saddle).
Nõrkused
  • Harsh, unforgiving ride on choppy or technical terrain — stiff frame becomes 'bone-shaking, finger-numbing'; limited compliance.
  • Very narrow handlebar (360 mm at hoods) is polarizing and uncomfortable for wide-shouldered riders, especially in technical sections.
  • Race-focused geometry and cockpit hinder handling on singletrack and rough trails — a handful when the going gets rowdy.
  • Tire clearance of 44 mm (original) is modest and 'not as good as claimed'; limits use on muddy or chunky terrain.
  • Fully internal cable routing makes maintenance inconvenient; very high price with no power meter included.
