Algupära

2020. aastal turule tulnud Caledonia oli Cervelo esimene pühendatud vastupidavus-/maanteerataste platvorm — teadlikult 'detuneeritud' võistlusratas pikema teljevahe, lõdvema geomeetria ja tõsise rehvikliirensiga, mis sai nime Šoti sõna järgi, mis tähistab karmi põhja. Caledonia-5 asub selle kohal lipulaeva klassika- ja munakiviteede relvana: varasemas põlvkonnas sõideti sellega Pariis-Roubaix' ja Strade Bianche võistlustel. 2024-2025 uuendus suurendas kliirensit 34-lt 36 mm rehvidele (või 34 mm poritiibadega), lisas alustoru kindalaeka pöördlukuga kaanega ja kohandatud kottidega ning vähendas raami kaalu 53 g võrra. See kasutab endiselt klassikalist keermestatud T47a alumist kronsteini standardse Caledonia puhul hooldatavuse huvides — teadlik lahkumine press-fit S5/R5-st.

Raam
Full carbon. Caledonia-5: high-modulus carbon, fully internal cabling, integrated downtube storage ('glovebox'), lowered/slimmer seatstays for vertical compliance; frame 936 g, fork 370 g (painted, 56 cm). Standard Caledonia: more affordable carbon layup, semi-internal cable routing for easier servicing, threaded T47a bottom bracket.

Cervélo all-carbon tapered Caledonia-5 fork, 51 mm rake/offset (rigid road fork). Frame+fork weight ~1306 g (936 g frame / 370 g fork, 56 cm).
Jõuülekanne
Build-dependent 2x12. Caledonia: Shimano 105 mechanical up to Ultegra Di2 / SRAM Rival AXS. Caledonia-5: Shimano Ultegra Di2 R8150 (52/36T crank, 11-34T cassette, often with 4iiii power meter) up to SRAM RED AXS 2x12.
Pidurid
Hydraulic disc brakes (groupset-matched: Shimano Ultegra or SRAM RED AXS). Shimano CL800 Centerlock rotors, 160 mm front and rear on the Ultegra Di2 build.

Caledonia-5: Reserve 42|49 carbon tubeless-ready — 42 mm front (25.5 mm internal) on Zipp 76 hub, 49 mm rear (24.5 mm internal) on Zipp 176 hub, 24H Centerlock, 12x142 mm rear, ~1400 g/pair.
Rehvid
700x30 mm tubeless-ready (Vittoria Corsa N.EXT TLR on Ultegra build; Vittoria Corsa Pro Control TLR on RED AXS build). Frame clears up to 36 mm (34 mm with full mudguards).
Vedrustus
Rigid (no suspension). Compliance comes from frame design — lowered slim seatstays, D-shaped SP24 carbon seatpost, and up to 36 mm tyres.
Rooliplokk
Non-integrated cockpit: Cervélo HB13 carbon handlebar (31.8 mm clamp) with Cervélo ST31/ST32 alloy or carbon stem; cables run semi-internally. Cervélo SP24 D-shaped carbon seatpost.
Sadul
Selle Italia Novus Boost Evo SuperFlow Ti on the Ultegra Di2 build, mounted on Cervélo SP24 D-shaped carbon seatpost.
Geomeetria
Endurance/all-road geometry (size 56): 72° head angle, 73° seat angle, 415 mm chainstays (short for the category), 1013 mm wheelbase, 580 mm stack, 387 mm reach, 51 mm fork offset (~57.8 mm trail on 30 mm tyre). Slightly racier and more reactive than a pure comfort endurance bike.

  • Race-oriented gearing (52/36 with 11-34) is aimed at fitter, faster riders rather than casual endurance cyclists
  • Not the plushest endurance bike: for ultra-distance riders comfort can become a limiting factor — it favours sportiness over maximum cushion
  • Noticeable weight for the price — ~7.95–8.28 kg on the Ultegra build makes acceleration feel less eager than the figure-light competition
  • Can feel slightly twitchy at low speeds and is not the easy, forgiving choice for beginners seeking a relaxed ride
