Algupära

Scott launched the SUB (Speed Utility Bike) family around 2008 as a practical, accessible alternative to the more road-focused Speedster. The core idea was a flat-bar urban and fitness bike that could handle daily commuting and weekend recreation on a variety of surfaces. The family grew into three branches: Sub Cross (suspension fork, trekking/hybrid, the most popular), Sub Sport (fitness-oriented with lighter suspension or rigid fork), and Sub Speed (low-maintenance belt drive with internal hub). Electric eRIDE variants were added later to each branch using Bosch mid-drive motors on the same alloy frames. The Sub Cross remains the best-selling and most widely distributed branch.

Sub Cross Alloy 6061, custom butted tubing, Sub Cross Men/Lady geometry, urban kit compatible (fender & rack mounts, internal cable routing). All Sub family variants share the same 6061 alloy custom-butted frame DNA.

Rehvid
Sub Cross 10: Kenda Piedmont 700x50C. Sub Cross 30: Kenda Booster 700x45C. Tyre clearance up to ~50mm on Sub Cross; designed for mixed surfaces including paved roads, gravel paths, and light off-road. Sub Speed uses narrower 700c tyre appropriate for urban commuting.
Vedrustus
Sub Cross: 63mm front suspension fork (SR Suntour NEX HLO/LO with hydraulic lockout). Sub Sport: varies by model — some builds rigid, e-bike variants use 100mm fork. Sub Speed: fully rigid. No rear suspension across the non-electric Sub family.
Rooliplokk
Flat MTB-style handlebar (alloy, moderate rise) with alloy stem. Syncros or HL alloy components. Ergonomic grips. Upright riding position throughout the family — comfort and visibility over efficiency.
Sadul
DDK Vacuum or equivalent entry saddle on alloy seatpost. Comfort-oriented saddle spec matching upright urban riding position. No dropper post.

Upright trekking/commuter geometry throughout the Sub family — tall head tube, moderate reach, comfort-oriented fit. Sub Cross men and women variants have gender-specific geometry. Approx 70 degrees head angle, reach ~385-395mm (size M). Available in XS through XL (typically 4-5 sizes).

Sub Cross 30: ~13.94 kg. Sub Cross 10: ~13.42 kg. Max system weight 128-130 kg. Heavy by hybrid standards — expected for the robust alloy trekking build with suspension fork and wide tyres.

  • Sub Cross with SR Suntour 63mm lockout fork and hydraulic disc brakes is an excellent all-weather commuter: practical, robust, and comfortable on European mixed-surface city roads
  • Wide tyre clearance (45-50mm on Sub Cross) and rack/fender compatibility make the bike ready for daily commuting straight from the box
  • Gates belt drive on Sub Speed is a compelling low-maintenance choice for urban commuters who do not want to clean a chain
Nõrkused
  • 13.4-14 kg weight is significant — the suspension fork adds weight without meaningful off-road benefit for typical urban use
  • Entry-level Sub Cross (30/40/50) with Alivio/Tourney drivetrains and basic components is a step below rivals at the same price
  • Confusing model family structure (Sub Cross vs Sub Sport vs Sub Speed) with widely varying specs makes comparison shopping difficult
