Mondraker is a Spanish brand founded in 2001 in Alicante, best known for aggressive enduro and downhill mountain bikes and its signature Forward Geometry. In 2020-2021 the company took an unusual detour into the children's market and launched the Grommy, which it billed as the world's first 'e-balance bike'. Rather than a pedal bike with training wheels, the Grommy is a chainless, pedal-less balance bike with a small 250W electric motor and a motorbike-style twist-grip throttle. The idea: let very young kids feel controlled power delivery, learn throttle and balance in graduated modes, and build the fine-motor confidence that later transfers to e-MTBs and motocross. It arrived to a divided reception — magazines called it either brilliant or alarming — but it carved out a genuine niche, and Mondraker has kept it in the range and re-launched it as the 'New Grommy'.
