Algupära
Merida introduced the Silex in 2018 as a dedicated gravel platform, and the 2024 generation represented the most significant rethink of the model. Merida addressed two recurring criticisms: the old bike's tall, upright head tube and conservative geometry. The 2024 Silex emerged slacker, longer, lower, and ready for a gravel suspension fork — reflecting how much gravel riding has shifted towards rough terrain. The proof arrived quickly: a Silex rider won Gravel Worlds 2024 outright.

Tehnilised andmed
- Raam
- Silex CF carbon frame: 1220 g claimed. Silex LITE aluminium frame: 1900 g claimed. Internal cable routing via Wire Port headset system. Internally routed dropper seatpost compatible (27.2 mm). Multiple cage mounts and bikepacking provisions.
- Kahvel
- Full carbon fork, 540 g claimed, 415 mm axle-to-crown (17 mm longer than previous gen for suspension-fork compatibility). 3× Anything cage mounts. Compatible with short-travel gravel suspension forks (e.g. RockShox Rudy). Flat-mount disc.
- Jõuülekanne
- 1× or 2× capable (removable front derailleur mount). Shimano GRX 600/800 or SRAM Rival/Apex AXS XPLR across the range depending on trim. 12-speed on upper builds.
- Pidurid
- Hydraulic disc, flat mount, 180 mm rotors standard. Carbon CF builds include integrated disc heat-sink coolers.
- Rattad
- 700c (primary). Frames accept 650b with larger tyre volume. Tubeless-ready rims.
- Rehvid
- 700×45 mm maximum (42 mm with full-coverage fenders). 650b also supported for wider rubber. Build-dependent stock tires.
- Vedrustus
- Rigid by default. Fork is suspension-corrected and accepts short-travel gravel suspension forks (e.g. RockShox Rudy ~30–40 mm) without geometry compromise.
- Geomeetria
- 2024 gen (size M): head angle 69.5° (1.5° slacker than predecessor), seat angle 74.5°, stack 607 mm (~2 cm lower), reach 412 mm (~1 cm longer), chainstays 430 mm. Wheelbase 2 cm+ longer vs old Silex.

Verdikt
+Tugevused
- 2024 geometry overhaul produces a genuinely capable off-road gravel bike without sacrificing fast road performance
- Suspension-fork compatibility and dropper-post routing future-proof the platform for adventure riding
- Silex CF carbon + fork at ~1760 g combined is competitive with premium-brand gravel frames
−Nõrkused
- Wire Port routing, while clean, makes headset and cable maintenance more involved than externally routed alternatives
- 45 mm tyre clearance is adequate but not class-leading for riders wanting very large volume tyres
- Lower stack position in 2024 suits performance riders but may be too aggressive for casual gravel tourists
