The Kona Sutra launched in 2008 as the brand's purpose-built touring and adventure bike — a direct descendant of Kona's mountain bike heritage applied to long-distance riding. It occupies a niche where mountain bike toughness meets road distance: chromoly steel, low-rider fork mounts, extensive rack/fender compatibility, and an increasingly gravel-capable geometry as bikepacking grew in popularity. The LTD variant pushes further into bikepacking territory with a 1x drivetrain and knobbier rubber.

Raam: Kona Cromoly Butted steel; burly, durable construction for loaded touring. Multiple rack and fender mounts on top tube, down tube, seat tube, and fork. Bottle cage mounts under top tube for frame bags.
Kahvel: Kona Project Two Cromoly Disc Touring fork; includes low-rider rack mounts for front panniers; 12x100mm thru-axle.
Jõuülekanne: Standard Sutra: 2x10 Shimano drivetrain. Sutra SE: 3x10 Shimano Deore. 1x11 SRAM Rival on Sutra LTD. Wide-range gearing suited to loaded climbing.
Pidurid: TRP mechanically actuated hydraulic disc brakes (Hy/Rd style) on standard and SE; SRAM Rival HRD flat-mount hydraulic disc on LTD. Rotors 180mm front and rear.
Rattad: 700c; thru-axles 100x12mm front / 142x12mm rear; tubeless-ready rims.
Rehvid: 700x40c (standard Sutra); Sutra LTD runs 29x2.25" Maxxis Rekon Race. Wide clearance allows up to 29x2.25" (equivalent to ~700x57c).
Geomeetria: Relaxed touring geometry; 69.5° head tube angle (LTD); 55mm fork offset; sizes 48–58cm; designed for stability under load rather than racing efficiency.
