S5

Verdikt
- Among the fastest aero road bikes ever lab-tested (BikeRadar/Cyclingnews); claimed ~6.3 W saving at 45 km/h over the previous gen with matched Reserve wheels
- Lighter than the outgoing S5 (~124 g lighter frameset) yet very stiff — genuine do-everything race bike Visma riders pick even on mountain stages
- Modern 34 mm tire clearance and swappable-setback SP34 seatpost — far more versatile than older aero superbikes
- Stable, predictable handling and confident cornering thanks to consistent 405 mm chainstays and low BB
- HB19 cockpit with flared Plus-Four drops gives extra control on fast descents
- Very expensive — flagship Dura-Ace build ~€14,000, and even the frameset entry point is ~€6,000
- Ride feel is calm/placid and somewhat disconnected from the road; lacks snap at low speed and needs rider input to come alive
- Deep rims + wide flat aero tubes make it noticeably twitchy in crosswinds, pushed sideways even by light gusts
- Integrated HB19 cockpit is not swappable at purchase — changing fit means buying a whole new one-piece bar/stem
- Stock 54/40T chainrings are overgeared for most amateur riders, and seatpost setback can't be changed for free at point of sale
