Aspero
Algupära
2019. aastal turule tulnud Cervelo esimene pühendatud kruusaratas, Aspero, oli teadlikult võistluskeskne — 'kruusa S5', mitte bikepacking-sõbralik kõigeks-kõlblik masin. Flip-chip TrailMixer kahvel võimaldab sõitjatel kasutada 700c või 650b rattaid ilma geomeetriat rikkumata, millest sai platvormi üks tunnusmärke. Teise põlvkonna 2024. aasta ümberkujundus tõi kaasa T47 keermestatud alamklambri, kaasajastas poolintegreeritud kaablite paigutuse, suurendas rehvide lõtku mõõdetud 44 mm-ni (45 mm ISO) 700c ja 47 mm-ni 650b puhul ning jäi tahtlikult tagasihoidlikuks kinnituskohtade osas — ainult ülemise toru kott ja üks alumine pudel enne alamklambrit. See on ratas, mille poole Lachlan Morton ja teised tipptasemel kruusasõitjad pöörduvad, kui eesmärk on puhas kiirus, mitte mugavus nädalapikkustel bikepacking-retkedel.
Tehnilised andmed
- Raam
- Carbon, race-tuned gravel layup; asymmetric BBRight T47a threaded bottom bracket, UDH derailleur hanger, fully-internal cable routing (2024 gen). Frame weight 1141 g (size 56 with hardware). Six sizes 48-61 cm.
- Kahvel
- Cervélo full-carbon Áspero fork with TrailMixer flip-chip dropout — toggles geometry for 700c or 650b wheels without changing BB drop; conventional round steerer. Fork weight 452 g (size 56).
- Jõuülekanne
- 1× focused: Shimano GRX 1×12, SRAM Apex XPLR (mech & AXS), SRAM Rival XPLR AXS — up to 46T 1× chainring or 52/36T mid-compact double. Test build: SRAM Rival XPLR AXS 1×12, 40T chainring, 10-44T cassette.
- Pidurid
- Hydraulic disc, flat-mount; SRAM Rival AXS on test build with 160/160 mm rotors (group-dependent across builds)
- Rattad
- Reserve 40|44 carbon (12×100 / 12×142 thru-axle) on upper builds; 700c standard with 650b option via TrailMixer flip-chip
- Rehvid
- WTB Vulpine TCS Light Fast Rolling 700×40c (test build). Clearance: 700×45 mm (700×42 with ~7 mm mud clearance); up to 47 mm on 650b
- Vedrustus
- Rigid (unsuspended). Compliance comes from dropped seatstays + 27.2 mm carbon seatpost, not from suspension
- Rooliplokk
- Cervélo AB09 carbon handlebar, Cervélo ST36 alloy stem (test build); semi-integrated routing, not a one-piece cockpit
- Sadul
- Cervélo SP19 carbon seatpost (27.2 mm); shorter 2024 seat tube exposes more post for added rear compliance
- Geomeetria
- Road-bike-fast gravel-race geometry: ~72° head angle (size 56), low-60s mm trail (~62 mm) with flip-chip forward, 425 mm chainstays (2024, +5 mm), 397 mm reach / 580 mm stack (56). Quick, responsive, race-oriented handling.
- Kaal
- 8.6 kg complete (size 56, SRAM Rival XPLR AXS / Reserve wheels build); ~19.9 lb on a US-spec test build
Verdikt
- Direct, efficient power transfer — feels like a fast road bike that happens to take gravel tyres
- Maintains speed effortlessly with the 2024 aero tube reshaping (~3 W faster at race pace)
- Versatile 700c/650b wheel swap via the TrailMixer flip-chip fork without upsetting geometry
- Surprisingly composed rear-end comfort for a race bike — dropped seatstays + 27.2 mm carbon post absorb buzz
- Clean, minimalist design with modern 2024 updates: T47 threaded BB, UDH hanger, fully-internal routing
- Race-focused mount strategy: only a top-tube bag mount and a single underside bottle bolt — poor for bikepacking/adventure loads
- Firm, precision-biased ride is less forgiving than plush all-day gravel bikes on rough terrain
- No truly top-spec flagship build offered on the standard Aspero — those chasing the lightest/fastest must jump to the pricier Aspero-5
- 45 mm tyre ceiling (700c) is tighter than many modern gravel rivals that clear 50 mm+
- Quick race geometry rewards experienced riders but can feel nervous/twitchy for newcomers at low speed
