The Grand Canyon is Canyon's long-running aluminium hardtail and one of the German direct-to-consumer brand's best sellers, aimed at delivering high component value at accessible prices. Over successive generations it grew from a 110mm steep-angled cross-country hardtail into a more capable trail bike: travel was bumped to 120mm and the latest redesign slackened the head angle to ~66°, lengthened the reach, steepened the seat angle, dropped frame weight, and added a dropper post, UDH, mullet wheel sizing and extra mounts. The 'AL' designation marks the standard aluminium frame, distinct from the lighter 'AL SL' and the carbon Exceed/Lux race platforms.

Raam: Aluminium hardtail (Canyon AL alloy), 12x148mm Boost thru-axle, BSA threaded BB (68/73mm), Category 3 durability (60cm/2-foot drops allowed), UDH derailleur hanger, internal dropper routing. Latest generation frame ~1,989g (M), ~207g lighter than predecessor.
Kahvel: Air-sprung suspension fork, 120mm travel across all sizes (latest gen; older models had 110mm). AL 8 build: Fox 32 Rhythm, 120mm, 32mm stanchions, 15x110mm Boost, tapered steerer, 51mm offset.
Jõuülekanne: 1x12 Shimano (AL 8: Deore XT M8100 12-speed shifter/derailleur, SLX CS-M7100 10-51T cassette, MT612 crank). Lower trims step down through SLX/Deore.
Pidurid: Hydraulic disc. AL 8: Shimano SLX M7120 4-piston hydraulic disc. Lower trims use Deore/MT-series 2-piston.
Rattad: Size-specific (mullet lineup): 29" on S–XL, 27.5" on 2XS–XS, 24" on Young Hero. Tubeless-ready, up to 2.4" tire clearance on ~30mm internal rims. AL 8: DT Swiss LN XC alloy, 25mm internal, 15x110mm front / 12x148mm rear.
Rehvid: AL 8: Schwalbe Rocket Ron (fast-rolling XC tread, ~630g), tubeless-ready. Frame clears up to 2.4".
Vedrustus: Hardtail (front suspension only), 120mm fork travel.
Rooliplokk: Alloy bar + stem. AL 8: Canyon HB0073 bar (31.8mm clamp, 18mm rise), Canyon ST0039 stem (31.8mm).
Sadul: AL 8 (older config): Velo VL1C28 Trail saddle on Canyon SP0081 alloy 31.6mm post. Latest gen tops (7 & 8) ship with a 150mm internally-routed dropper; all frames accept a dropper.
Geomeetria: Latest generation slackened to trail-ready: ~66° head angle, ~75° seat angle, 450mm reach (M), 490mm reach (XL); previous generation was steeper XC (68.5° HTA, 430mm reach M). 7 sizes (kids to adult). Slacker = more descending stability while still climbing well.
Kaal: Approx. 12.6 kg top build (AL SL 9.0 claimed 12.59 kg) up to ~14 kg entry (AL 4.0). AL 8 ~12.5–13 kg depending on size. Latest frame ~1,989g (M).
